Certification Consulting FAQ
What happens during the initial consultation?
The initial consultation is used to understand the business, ownership structure, certification goals, current documentation, prior certification history, agency concerns, and potential eligibility issues. The goal is to determine whether HIT Executive Consulting may be able to help and what type of engagement would be appropriate.
What documents are usually needed?
Common documents may include ownership records, operating agreements, bylaws, stock records, tax returns, financial statements, resumes, licenses, contracts, invoices, payroll records, bank records, prior applications, agency correspondence, and other materials related to ownership, control, management, independence, and business operations.
Do you prepare the application or only advise?
That depends on the engagement. Some engagements include application preparation, document organization, narrative development, and submission support. Other engagements focus on strategy, document review, denial analysis, agency response preparation, or reevaluation support. The specific scope is defined in the written proposal.
How long does the certification process take?
Generally, from 5-7 months from Kickoff to Determination. However, the timeline varies by certification program, agency, documentation readiness, client responsiveness, portal deadlines, agency workload, and whether additional information is requested. HIT Executive Consulting can help organize and prepare the materials, but agency review timelines are outside HITEC’s control.
